Please answer in the comments section, mac user genius kid. First person to help us correctly gets a present from Julianne and I, special made for you.

I've done the drag-and-drop method -- taking the file and pulling it into iTunes (assuming I've already opened iTunes) -- more than a few times. You can also....hang on....okay. Go to the file in Finder, select "Get Info" -- from there, you should be able to select which application opens files of that type.

On the Windows version you can specify a folder and get iTunes to automatically organise your library.

Open iTunes. Go to File>Add to Library & then select the file(s). It's one of several ways I guess.

Not really long time reader, first time poster.

This is the method I use and why I use it.

When I download files they go into a folder that is located on my desktop for easy findin'.

I have that directory set up to list the NEWEST files at the top and oldest ones at the bottom for easy findin'.

I highlight all the new files I want to hear and drag the bunch of 'em to the iTunes icon in the dock (assuming that you're running OS X). As soon as you drop them on the icon they instantly get added to your library and start playing all by their own selves. I also have a "smart" play list that instatly makes a play list of all my unplayed .mp3 files in my iTunes library for easy referencin'.

There you go!

i'd use the above-mentioned "add to library" method . . .

file>add to library> then select the files you want to add and click "choose."

love, the future.

hmm. i think it might be easiest to go to iTunes preferences, click on Advanced, and select the box for "Copy files to iTunes music folder..." From this point forward in your life, you just have to dubble-clik on any mp3 icon, be it on your desktop or in a folder, and it will be added to your iTunes library even as it starts playing, and this will always be true. you can even throw away the original mp3 to clean up yr desktop, etc, as there is now a copy in your iTunes folder!
